Black Peoples History of Canada

Dr. Afua Cooper leads a team of scholars and students on A Black People’s History of Canada, a three-year project addressing the lack of Black history in Canadian schools. Covering African Canadian history from 1604 to the present, the research spans slavery, Black Loyalists, the Underground Railroad, segregation, military contributions, civil rights struggles, and modern diaspora experiences across all provinces and territories.
