Ratna Omidvar

Ratna Omidvar is an internationally recognized advocate for migration, diversity, and inclusion. Arriving in Canada from Iran in 1981, her personal experiences of displacement have shaped her work. Appointed to the Senate of Canada in 2016, she serves as Chair of the Senate Committee on Social Affairs and has held roles on charitable sector and international councils. Previously, she led the Global Diversity Exchange at Ryerson University and served as President of Maytree. A published author and recipient of numerous honours, including the Order of Canada, she champions immigrant integration and social equity.
