Irving Abella

Abella, a Jewish-Canadian raised in Ontario, is best known for co-authoring, None is too many, a book which shed light on the largely untold story of the Canadian Government’s refusal to accept Jewish refugees fleeing the Holocaust, and helped persuade future governments to welcome migrants fleeing war. He was also the author of Coat of Many Colours: Two Centuries of Jewish Life in Canada, an important text chronicling the history of Jewish Canadians. In addition to serving as president of the Canadian Jewish Congress for several years, he was one of the prime builders of the Centre for Jewish Studies at York University.
