The Pearson Centre is pleased to announce that James Scongack will be the recipient of our first Catalyst for Change Leadership Award. He receives this award in recognition of his contributions to cancer care, particularly for children, medical isotopes and energy security.
James is a visionary leader responsible for the creation of the Canadian Nuclear Isotope Council (CNIC). As founder and Chair, he has provided the leadership that unites organizations across Canada’s isotope supply chain, positioning our country to lead the world in research, development and production of medical isotopes and radiopharmaceuticals.
As Chair of the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO), James leads this unique Ontario organization that works to ensure that everyone affected by childhood cancer has access to the best care and support. He is a strong advocate in the cancer-care sector, and is a long time supporter of the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
James is also Chair of the Green Ribbon Panel, bringing together leaders from acrossCanada to push for practical energy solutions that keep our country secure and competitive. Formed in 2020, the Panel creates space for business and civic leaders to share ideas and solutions that can make Canada a global clean energy superpower.
James is currently the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice-President at Bruce Power and has been recognized by the Globe and Mail Report on Business Best Executive Awards and awarded both the King Charles III Coronation Medal and QueenElizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Award for his leadership. He’s also a recipient of Canada’s Top 40 under 40®.
“James’ leadership has been the catalyst for change in Canada and beyond, and we are pleased to recognize his work with this award. He embodies those qualities that Lester B. Pearson instilled in Canadians to dream big for our country, and dedicate our lives to service” said Kevin Bosch, Chair of the Board, The Pearson Centre.
The award will be presented at a dinner in Toronto (One King West) on June 22nd.
