The Pearson Centre announces new Chief Executive Officer
The Pearson Centre for Progressive Policy announced today that George Young has joined the organization as Chief Executive Officer. “Mr. Young brings a wealth of public and private sector experience to his new role. His ability to connect with people will be a true asset for the Pearson Centre”, said Dr. Karen Mock, Chair of the Board of Directors.
In thirty-plus years of public sector engagement, Mr. Young has served multiple Prime Ministers and ministers, as well as the mayor of Canada’s capital. He has twice headed a national volunteer organization; was a vice president of a public opinion research firm; served as the first director of communications for a national public policy institute; and he has advised a varied client base as a consultant. His working career began in the dairy sector, where he became a cheesemaker and manager of dairy operations for national and multinational companies after starting out as a summer student.
“On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Scott Simms for all his immense efforts on behalf of our organization over the past year, since its founder and first CEO, Andrew Cardozo, was appointed a Senator. We look forward to continuing to build the Pearson Centre’s participation in Canada’s public discourse under George’s leadership,” added Dr. Mock.
“I am looking forward to this new challenge and to expanding the reach and support of the Pearson Centre across Canada,” commented Mr. Young.
