Racism is Still a problem in Canada: A Collection of Recent News

With the seemingly constant stream of news articles detailing acts of racism and discrimination against racialized individuals in the United States, it is easy for us here in Canada to think that racism is an American problem and that things are somehow better and safer here. However, it is important to remind ourselves that this is not the case and that horrible acts of racism are still taking place in many cities across Canada. Below is a short collection of recent news articles detailing hate crimes and incidents of racism that have taken place within Canada in the last year. This list is by no means exhaustive but it serves as an important reminder that we must continue to strive for a more equal and just Canada and continue to fight racism whenever and wherever it may appear.  For details on each incident, click on the picture to be directed towards the specific article.
