TORONTO: Tuesday, September 27, 2016; 12 noon to 1:30 pm

The Hon. Yasir Naqvi was first elected to the Ontario Legislature in 2007 and assumed his role as Attorney General in June of this year. He has served in other cabinet portfolios since early 2014. He is also the Government House Leader.

These are the first major speeches by the new Attorney General where he will outline his priorities which respond to a wide range of demands made of his ministry. Following his keynote speech, the minister will also answer questions from the audience.

These events are part of the “Pursuing Justice Initiative” of the Pearson Centre launched in March of this year with the help of former Justice Minister Irwin Cotler. See report here. The initiative’s first event after that was a roundtable with Senator Murray Sinclair on the report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, focusing on the education and employment for Indigenous Peoples. See report here. Further work will be done on this issue. Other projects will include youth justice.

Sponsorships are also invited for these events. For more information please contact info@thepearsoncentre.ca
