A tribute to Brian Mulroney
On February 29, 2024, as the House of Commons was in session, Member of Parliament, John Nater solemnly rose to deliver the news that our 18th Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney, had passed away earlier that day.
We extend our deepest condolences to Mila, Caroline, Ben, Mark, Nicolas and their extended family and friends from all of us at The Pearson Centre.
Former Prime Minister Mulroney was a champion for the environment and stood up for Canada’s values against communism, authoritarianism, hatred, and racism. He witnessed the fall of the Berlin Wall, and became a shining example for human rights as he vehemently opposed the South African regime’s apartheid policy when other allies were afraid to do so. It was through the efforts of PM Mulroney and his government that the Canada/US Free Trade Agreement was negotiated enhancing prosperity and ensuring Canada a seat at the most important tables regarding international trade and commerce. It is safe to say, as has the Hon. Jean Charest, that Brian Mulroney was “one of the greatest prime ministers in Canadian history”.
On July 29, 2020, we had the honour of having the Rt. Hon. Brian Mulroney on a webinar hosted by The Pearson Centre. We are making it available again and We hope you enjoy the discussion. Brian Mulroney & An Agenda for Canadian Greatness
